The Tokio Millennium triathlons, one of the highlights of our season, took place in stormy conditions in Hamilton on 8 June.
Predictably, the race was dominated by the Butterfields and the Smiths. Congratulations to our race winners Tyler and Nikki Butterfield (photo, right, courtesy of IslandStats). Tyler–who is always appreciative of Tokio, who have provided him with longstanding sponsorship–also helped out by handing out the trophies at the end.
The second placed male and female finishers (and the leading amateurs) were Tyler Smith and his mum Karen, respectively. Tyler Smith is making an impressively quick return to form after a broken arm and has a promising future in the sport.

Huge thanks and well done to the title sponsor Tokio Millennium Re, who once again pulled off an exceptional event, this time despite very challenging conditions. Well done and thanks also to Steven Petty and everyone who pitched in before, during and after the event to make it run smoothly and safely. As Ed Jordan commented, an event team had been meeting regularly for the past five months to arrange matters. It showed. Well done.
