THURSDAY 12TH AUGUST SUPERSPRINT TRIATHLON
It was a perfect evening for a triathlon with calm water and no wind to create and obstacles for our athletes, however, the evening did provide some excitement and drama!
It was great to see some new faces- clearly triathlon popularity is increasing following the Olympics- thank you Flora!!
Our volunteers came out to make set up and take down smooth- itโs becoming a well oiled machine- thank you to all who helped.
The Short distance was won by Rory Fosker, with brother Owen coming in seconds- this seems to be a recurring theme.(Well deon Fosker boys for convincing your father that it is a good thing to so this every Thursday)
Third was newcomer Rihanna Robinson- well done to all 3 of you.
Nick Pilgrim looked like he was going to have a comfortable win but unfortunately developed cramp on the run and pulled.
Therefore the podium for the long distance saw Tommy Marshall racing strong to win, with Neil de St Croix in second. Jauza James made a remarkable recovery and ran a great run after crashing off his bike just before transition to sustain some nasty scrapes and road rash. He showed his bravery as he did not let this stop him in his quest for a podium finish.
Special mention to Jong Vivencio and Steve Petty, nice to see you back.
Adam Petty( and all the Petty crew) Adam raced , watched by his 2 weeks old son- its important to introduce the kids at a young age

Our visitor from the UK Tami Alikhani
Merited Haynes who raced well with a little one in tow
And Finally to Lisa Smart for just not giving up- well done!!!
we hope to see you all next week, and there will also be a sprint distance home event on the 22nd August at Clearwater for all those interested- especially if hoping to qualify for age group world championships.
