Thursday 23 July was one of those days which called for a late decision about whether or not to go ahead with the Argo Re Summer Series “super sprint”. It was a brooding day, with thunder never too far away. And with thunder comes its friend lightning, never an athlete’s favourite sight. In the end we consulted the oracle (you know it as www.weather.bm) and nervously went ahead. It proved a worthwhile decision, because 12 hardy souls ignored the skies and took to the roads at the super sprint.
Well done to evergreen Kent Richardson, who continues to make other 50 something men look feeble. Kent placed first ahead of another veteran–but not THAT veteran–triathlete, Jamie Pedro. At the other end of the age spectrum, young Tommy Marshall grabbed third place ahead of Doc Boonstra. Tommy’s sister, Julie Marshall, was the first female finisher ahead of Wenda Roberts.
A big thank you to this week’s race director Sam Naude, ably supported by Dawn Johnson. Thanks also to everyone who pitched in to help them.
Please remember that there will NOT be a Super Sprint on Thursday 30 July, due to the Cup Match holiday.
